I know I haven’t made any updates in a while, but given the recent goings on, there’s a could of doubt that’s starting to loom over my head. If you’ve been paying attention to American news recently, you’ll know that two bills have come up in Congress the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA). Granted I’m Canadian and as such I should be out of both Acts’ jurisdiction if they get passed (as are two other Fanfic O-Rama authors). But even if I don’t get slammed by either of these Acts (if passed), they will have some more long term effects that’ll affect me in the long run. One of which is all ready happening. I’m sure most of you know that the once great file sharing site MegaUpload is now down for the count, and MU getting taken down has put the fear of god into sites like FileSonic, and FileServe. And with sites like that down, I’ll be unable to get the toku raws I’ll need to not only adapt from, but also make screen caps for each of the sections (I’m all ready kinda screwed with raws for Double and Go-on). And as you can imagine this doesn’t exactly leave me in the best of positions for future series. So with that said, if I’m unable to get what I need for to continue on, then the Fanfic O-Rama universe will end with Dimensional Shift, or at least as far as PR series go.
Why Dimensional Shift? Well for one thing I have raws for every ep of Goseiger, even ones I’m not adapting. So I’m set there. But even if I am able to get raws for the remaining episodes of Gokaiger, what I’ve got planned for Buccaneer Fleet isn’t exactly all that substantial. Or at least compared to what I’ve got planned for DS. So if everything that’s going on does put the kibosh on my work, then DS will be the best place to end things. And my universe will end sooner than I would’ve liked. Now keep in mind that this is only for PR series, there’s still A LOT of Chronos that needs to be written, and I’ve also got my sights set on an OOO adaptation at some point in time. So I’d at least got that going for me. And there are a few other things here and there that I’d like to pursue as well.
But who knows? Maybe things will improve, and I’ll be able to continue on doing what I’m doing, and my universe will end on an adaptation of Sentai 2015 like I’m currently planning. But with things the way they are now, the future’s uncertain. However, at this time I’d like to call upon my American readers, who are of voting age, to write to your local Congressman or even Senator (being polite of course), and let them know that SOPA and PIPA are complete wastes of time that won’t accomplish anything (the blackout last Wednesday kinda proved as much). Non-Americans, write to your local government reps and let them know that you don’t want to see something like this happen in your country (I’m toying with writing to my Member of Parliament myself). This isn’t just about getting stuff online illegally for free, it’s about keeping the Internet free and open for all. Also I’d like to hear other people’s opinions on my plans. Is Dimensional Shift the best place for me to end my PR writing if the future’s going to be bleak? Shoot me an email, or comment on this post, and let me know. But enough of me being a Debbie Downer, here’s that one Jeopardy clip that’s been making its rounds lately;
Kinda awesome, right?
I know it’s been a while since anything’s gone up, but life’s been getting in the way. On that note there’s a high chance that I won’t be making any updates to the site any time soon. The move to my new house hasn’t exactly gone too smoothly, and I’ve been living at my grandmother’s for the time being. So I’m without my computer let alone the internet. And speaking of my grandmother, she’s in the hospital at the moment in palliative care. Meaning there’s a high chance she won’t be with us for much longer. And if she dies I won’t be in much of a mood to do anything with this site. The final monkey wrench in my plans is the upcoming Xmas season and my work schedule. And in the past few years the holiday season has started to become a little crazy, so that’ll take me away from things. And as far as work goes, it’s work so that’ll be taking me away from things regardless of whatever hours I’ll be getting around Xmas. So I’ll leave things at all of this for the moment, and see you all again in the New Year.
- Guardians episodes 34 & 35 added
I know it’s been a couple of months, but things have been kinda busy with work. Also on October 28 I’ll be moving into a new house, and more than likely I won’t have access to my computer let alone the internet, so any updates will have to be put on hold until things are up and running for me again. So if any of the hosted series need updating between now and then, get them to me sooner than later. Either way I’ll make a note of when things will be operational once everything’s settled with the new house.

Kinda forgot to include that pic with the Zords page update with ep 26 about a year ago, but at the same time too I also kinda forgot what the file name on it was. Also, and this kinda has a bearing on the previous blog post, but I just started a new job on Wednesday, so that’s going to affect when updates get done. Granted it’s not like my current output is like it was during D.A.T.A. Trek’s run, but still there’s going to be a slight damper on when things get done.
Update: went to have a look at the Primal Strike weapons page, and noticed a slight spelling error in the Twilight Hunter profile. Also I fixed the link in the Stalk Cycle entry as well, since the previous URL is out of date.
About a week ago I got an email from someone, who I assume was asking me to host their series. I initially disregarded it as junk mail, since it not only appeared in that folder, but had a string of random crap in the message as well. It wasn’t until I saw a thread at Ranger Talk that had the same title as the one in the email that I realized what was going. Since then I’ve been toying with laying down a few ground rules as to what it’d take to get me to host your series. Granted it’s not like I receive hosting requests left, right, an center, but still it’s something that I should do in order to make sure that some modicum of order to things around here.
- when asking for hosting, make sure that you’ve explained what it is that you want. To a certain extent pretend that the email with your hosting request is like a business proposal, or a network pitch to get a TV show on the air (because in a way it kinda is)
- make sure that you have some definite content to go with what you want. As you can probably imagine, I don’t want to waste my time with someone who only has some vague ideas about their series. It’s happened to me before (isn’t that right Eddie?). Anyway what that content is can be anything, a complete series bible featuring all of your character bios, etc. Also if you have completed episodes, that’ll definitely give you some serious consideration for hosting
- this one is kind of an extension of the last rule; for the most part there are no restrictions on what your content can be. This site isn’t limited to PR/toku fan fiction (points to Animaniacs and Mortal Kombat logos), nor do I care about the style you use to write your series. However there are a few things that I definitely won’t allow. Nothing with Sesame Street, I don’t necessarily have anything against the show, since I did spend some sunny days sweeping the clouds away growing up. But if you’re in your late teens or older, should you really be doing something with Sesame Street? Although if you want to do something Muppet related that involves Kermit and the gang, I’d be down with that. Nothing related to a certain mouse that’s owned by a company that begins with D. I’m one of those PR fans that’s a little sore that that company treated the franchise like a redheaded stepchild. No adapting Zyuranger in the same way that I’ve more or less done with every Sentai series since Deka. I don’t care how good you think your idea is, or if it’s a more “faithful” adaptation, Zyuranger should be sovereign ground when it comes to this kind of thing. After all if it wasn’t for the actual adaptation of Zyuranger, this site wouldn’t exist
- again this is kind of an extension to #2; when it comes to the info for your section, you have to provide it. That includes all of the profiles, if you’re doing a toku adaptation, info on which episode of your series is adapted from which episode of a toku series, the allusions that come up in any given episode (if you want an allusions sub-section), the bonus info, etc. If you want me to make you a few South Park styled characters that’s no biggie since I will be making things like sections buttons, and even a series logo. Pics are kind of a gray area though. If you’re doing a toku adaptation and I can find what I need for the site, I’ll provide them, if not you might have to do them. If by chance you have the pics you need, then by all means send them to me. And if you have your own logo ready to go, again pass it along. Also if (for example) you’re adapting Boukenger, your section will use the same pics as the D.A.T.A. Trek section. The only exception to this pic sharing I’m going to make is for a series that I have my sights on doing, but haven’t started yet (e.g. Goseiger, Gokaiger)
- if everything’s settled, and I’m hosting your series, updates will be made on an “I’ll get to it, when I get to it” basis. Sometimes life does get in the way, and as such if there’s something I need to deal with first I’m going to deal with it. Also if I’ve got my own updates going on, those will be done before anything else.
- beyond that you have as much time as you need to do whatever. I don’t have any time limits on when I want to see things done, and for the most part the only person who’d cancel your series is you (unless of course you piss me off). So it’s no different than the “it’s done when it’s done” policy I have for my own series.
- if you can agree to all of the above, and I’ve looked your series over, you’re more or less in, unless I think my plate might be a little full at the time you ask me for hosting. But don’t fret, because if it gets to a point where I feel as if I can take on another series you’ll be in, but wait for me to come to you before asking
Well it’s been another year of this site’s existence, and unlike last year I don’t have much to say. Since it’s no longer the fifth anniversary year I’ve put the logo back to the standard version (as you’ve probably noticed). But needless to say there will be another variation of the logo coming up in four years that will feature a big old X in the background (for obvious reasons). Anyway like last year there is a release so with that said here goes;
- Engine Roar episode 7 added
- Go-onger footage sub-section updated
- Engine Roar allusions sub-section updated
- new pics and info in Engine Roar monsters sub-section
- new pics and info in Engine Roar Zords page
- new pic in Engine Roar Engine Blocks sub-section
- new titles (8, 9, and unnumbered) added to Engine Roar episode page, including numbering “Shutter Bugged”
- new link added
The new link is for Ryuganon, another fansubbing group akin to Go-Anonger or ShinkenAnon. Ryuganon is working on both Ryuki and Blade. Also I kinda screwed up a little on the updates for the last ep of Elemental Blade, I forgot to set up the entry for ep 21 in the Shinkenger footage sub-section. But it’s fixed now.
Edit: forgot to mention that the users that have signed up have all been deleted. None of them made any comments, which wasn’t exactly easing my spambot suspicions. However if there were legit users in there (sorry my bad), then by all means register again.
The URL for the Ranger Talk link has been altered. I changed it from tokuhero.com to rangertalk.com. Can’t speak for anyone else, but all today I’ve been getting error messages with the tokuhero version, so there might be a chance that that one is gone. Plus I probably should’ve made this change sooner anyway.
Also I’m thinking I may delete the registered users that have signed up for the blog, because I can’t help but think that they’re all spambots. Of course if any of those users aren’t spambots then I’m going to need to see some proof of that. Needless to say I’ve taken some precautions to prevent spam from the blog comments, so again if there are any legitimate users please make some kind of post to prove otherwise.

Also, so I don’t get any emails, message board posts, or blog comments on the subject, for those of you too lazy to look it up on dictionary.com or Wikipedia, the word “shogunate” stems from the Japanese term “bakufu”, which referred to the house or dwelling of the shogun. Eventually it came to refer to a system of government that resembled a feudal military dictatorship. The word itself is technically English, and refers to the dictatorship. Either way if you want more info on the subject look it up. Anyway I’ll be taking a small break from E.B. to focus on Primal Strike for a while to at least get “To the Edge part 2″ finished. I may even go as far as the “An Insidious Mindset” two-parter, but it all depends on how I’m feeling about PS after ep 27 is done. And one more quick thing, ep 20 of EB also marks my 175th episode (episode 150 was SPD ep 39).
