Name: Philip Sisko
Age: Unknown, seemingly early 20s
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Appearance: Philip has auburn hair in a bob-cut, held in place by a
metal clip, heterochromatic eyes (the left one is green, the right is blue)
and a softly feminine facial structure. He is typically dressed in a
sleeveless hoodie over a striped shirt, fingerless gloves, short trousers
and a pair of sheepskin boots. His favoured colours are blue over
yellow, beige over powder blue or green over dark blue.
Bio: René’s adoptive brother and assistant, Philip is an enigmatic youth
who has proven time and again to be a wealth of information. His brain
and fingers work so fast that he actually becomes impatient when his
computer cannot catch up with him. He is almost always seen with a
book in his hands though it is often impossible to specify which ones
he may actually be reading. Innocent and sometimes child-like, Philip
may be a high-functioning autistic. He has a particular fondness for
Belinda’s cooking.
Name: Natasha Fontaine
Age: 28
Ethnicity: Creole, French/African-American ancestry
Appearance: Natasha has black hair usually worn in a ponytail and
brown eyes. She is typically dressed in a red tube top, white track suit
and white trainers.
Bio: Proprietor of
Natasha Fontaine’s School of Dance and René and
Philip’s landlady, Natasha is firm but fair and cares a lot about her
family and pupils. She does not dislike the detectives
per se but
becomes annoyed when they fail to pay their rent on time. She does
not have the heart to evict them, but will use the threat of it to get her
way if necessary. She is five times Ville Venteuse and three times
Louisiana State dance champion, a fact of which she is undeniably
proud, and has used the money from her victories to open the school.
Name: Captain Toussaint Charbonneau
Age: 44
Ethnicity: Creole, French ancestry
Appearance: Charbonneau has black hair that is always slicked back
over his prominent but distinguished receding hairline and green eyes.
He is typically dressed in a battered green coat over a dishevelled
brown suit and dark blue tie.
Bio: An acquaintance of René and Philip and the only one on the force
who does not protest to their involvement in the Trojanite cases.
Charbonneau is easy-going in his approach to just about everything in
life. He is married with a young daughter but does not talk a lot about
his home life.
Name: Belinda Blair
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Cajun
Appearance: Belinda has blonde hair in ringlets and violet eyes. She has
a tattoo of a snake across her back with the head at her left shoulder
and the tail arcing around to her navel. She is typically dressed in a tie-
dye vest, jeans fastened by a cowboy belt and cowboy boots,
accessorised with various bangles, rings and necklaces. When
performing voodoo rituals she will don a ceremonial gown, shawl and
headscarf.
Bio: A voodooienne and proprietor of a popular café, Belinda is
something of a gossip queen, which makes her René’s number one
informant. A business-woman by nature, her knowledge comes with a
price (usually that the detectives carry out deliveries for her). This fact
aside, she is a reliable source and upholds the purpose of voodoo
practitioners to give aid to any who would ask. She finds the term,
“witch doctor,” offensive. She has a pet boa constrictor named Griselda.
Name: Serafine Sisko
Age: 75
Ethnicity: Cajun
Appearance: Serafine has dignified grey hair in a chignon bun and green
eyes. She is typically dressed in a jumper over a paisley blouse, with a
pencil skirt, tights and high-heeled shoes.
Bio: Serafine is the kindly grandmother of René, who raised him since
his parents died. A former schoolteacher who now lives in retirement in
the richer district of Ville Venteuse, she keeps herself occupied by
teaching piano and needle-work. She enjoys being visited by René and
Philip, whom she looks upon as a second grandson, but is unaware of
their crime-fighting activities beyond their detective business. Despite
her sweet outer appearance, Serafine has a furious temper, especially
when her family are threatened, and few things can stop her when she’s
wielding a frying pan or her trusty knitting needles, a lesson that the
Cockroach Trojanite learned the hard way.
