Bio: raised since birth at the Temple of Light in the mountains of China,
Liu Kang is descended from the Great Kung Lao and was under intense
pressure to follow in his footsteps. He was taught the coveted techniques
of his people as a means to make him even more formidable in battle.
Five years before the story begins, Liu Kang finally suffered an emotional
breakdown and left the temple to travel. After receiving visions of his
ancestor’s death in the Mortal Kombat tournament, he returned to his
temple and was welcome with open arms by all but his jealous cousin
Kung Lao, who challenged him for the right to represent the Order in the
approaching tournament. After their brief confrontation in which their
strengths were proven equal, it was decreed by Raiden that both warriors
would be in attendance, a decision Liu Kang was happy to comply with.
Name: Kung Lao
Age: 24
Ethnicity: Chinese
Home Realm: Earthrealm
Fighting Styles: Northern Praying Mantis, Shaolin Fist, Kenpō
Bio: a direct descendent of his revered namesake, Kung Lao grew up with
Liu Kang but always felt himself to be in his cousin’s shadow. He was
embittered that Liu Kang was taught the Order’s sacred techniques instead
of him and to that end he trained himself to be a superior fighter by
developing his own abilities, eventually forging his signature razor-edged
hat and mastering the art of teleportation. He never forgave Liu Kang for
abandoning his destiny and leaving the temple, but at the same time felt
assured that the responsibility of avenging his family’s stolen honour would
be passed on to him. When his cousin returned, however, he was outraged
and challenged him for the privilege to enter Mortal Kombat. Unable to
overcome the other fighter, he was sent alongside him to participate, but
unlike Liu Kang he was less than pleased by the arrangement.

squad were critically injured, Sonya found herself invited to enter the

fighters, Sonya soon came to understand the importance of defeating the
forces of Outworld and appreciate the friendship of her fellow humans

stream of box office flops. His luck seemed to change when his agent
(actually the Outworld operative Mileena in disguise) approached him
about taking part in the tournament as a means of proving himself to his
fans and critics alike. Johnny jumped at the opportunity. He quickly

but strong of will, Kitana clandestinely simmered in her plans to
overthrow the Emperor for many years, all the while serving him under
the guise of his most loyal killer. With the arrival of Raiden’s chosen
warriors, she has at last found the opportunity to fight back against those
who moulded her life, and to liberate her stolen kingdom.
