
Episode 1 More than a Game part 1
- Denji Sentai Megaranger - the set-up of the D.A.T.A. Trek video game, as well as the whole video game concept
of this fic are in reference to the 1997 Sentai series Megaranger
- South Park - one of the geeks' names is Professor Chaos, which is also the name Butters' evil alter-ego in South
Park
- Donald Trump - given Paul's surroundings when he first sees the floor that Crittendden's office is on, he compares
her to billionaire/Apprentice host Doanld Trump
- Futurama - "I'm not going to regret it, but I will both rue and lament it" this line is a slight variation of a line from
the Futurama episode "The Cryonic Woman", where Fry doesn't regret going to what he assumes is the year 4000,
but he does both rue and lament it
- Sesame Street/The Simpsons - Paul being in the dumpster is an obvious reference to a character from the children's
television show Sesame Street, Paul specifically saying "Oscar the Grouch" is a slight reference to the Simpsons
episode "Brother from the Same Planet", where upon seeing a homeless person in a dumpster Homer laughs to
himself and says, "just like Oscar the Grouch"
- Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - Paul saying that the holographic face is "so 1993", is a reference to the orginal
Ranger mentor, Zordon
- Batman - Paul comparing the part of D.A.T.A. Base that he Mark, and Kia first entered to the Bat Cave is an
obvious reference to any incarnation of Batman
- Indiana Jones - Paul calling Mark "Indiana Jones", is an obvious reference to the character
- Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (again) - Insidia taking solace in the fact that things with the Dragonites could be
worse "they could be made out of clay", is a jab at the Putty Patrol from the Power Rangers series that started it all
- Power Rangers Dino Thunder - Insidia mentioning Mindset's acquisition of Anton Mercer Industries is in reference
to the 2004 Power Rangers series Dino Thunder, now just think about what that genome technology could possibly
be
Episode 2: More than a Game part 2
- Lord of the Rings/GoGo Sentai Boukenger - Paul mentioning that if Doc calls the ancient source he is looking for
the "precious" he will call Doc "Gollum", is an obvious reference to Tolkien's famous trilogy, also Paul using the
term "precious" is a slight jab at Boukenger (upon which D.A.T.A. Trek is based) where the artifacts that the
Boukenger look for in (almost) every episode are known as "precious"
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger (again)- "at least we don't have to strap these things to our arms" this like the previous
Boukenger reference is a jab at the series this time poking fun at the fact that the Boukenger have their Acellulars
stapped to their arms
- Monopoly - "All I know is that someone has to stop your little monopoly at whatever your'e planning. So why don't
you get into your giant shoe and drive off?" this line is a reference to the board game Monopoloy
Episode 3: More than a Game part 3
- Pokemon - Paul mentioning that his user name stems from an anime with a bunch of odd looking animals is a
reference to the anime series Pokemon
- the PSP/Drawn Together - Paul calling Eddie "GeekStation Portable" is an obvious reference to Sony's PlayStation
Portable gaming device, this is also a variation on a line from the first episode of Drawn Together where Captain
Hero called Xandir "GayStation 2"
Episode 4: Like Brothers

Episode 5: Swords of Shadow
- The Fairly OddParents - Eddie saying that he got the D.A.T.A. Scope from the internet is similar to Timmy
constantly saying that all of the stuff he wishes for is from the Internet
- Raiders of the Lost Ark - Paul saying that the Kage no Ken will be stored in a giant warehouse next to the Ark of
the Covenant is in reference to the ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark
Episode 6: Braving the Weather
- Power Rangers Time Force - the headline on the newspaper that Paul is reading is a nod to the 2001 Power
Rangers series Time Force
Episode 7: Digging Up Secrets
- The Book of Mark/Michael Chrichton/Eddie Izzaed/Pat Morita/Friends/Jennifer Lopez - Michael Crichton, Pat
Morita, Eddie Izzard, and Jennifer Lopez are all in reference to these celebrites, "a character named 'Rachel' from a
hit sitcom" is in reference to the sitcom Friends, the Book of Mark is of course in reference to the book from the
Bible
- Monopoly - "there's nothing you couldn't tell me about your company that owns the waterworks and that hotel on
Baltic Avenue" this is an obvious reference to the board game Monopoloy
- The Godfather - "like some of the businesses that the Corleones own that aren't the 'family business" an obvious
reference to Mario Puzo's classic book (as well as Francis Ford Coppola's trilogy of films) The Godfather, and I
don't think I need to tell you what the Corleones' "family business" is
- Transformers - "where's an Autobot when you need one?" Bakuma's transformation into the giant construction
vehicle obviously reminded the student of a Decepticon from Transformers
Episode 8: System Crash part 1
- Disney - "it could be worse...you could be working for Disney" just a quick potshot at the company that currently
owns the Power Rangers fanchise
- Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue,
Power Rangers Time Force, Power Rangers Wild Force, Power Rangers Ninja Storm, Power Rangers Dino Thunder,
Power Rangers Magix - the mentioning of the former Ragner cities in each of these series is a nod to continuity.
Also the reason why New Tech City and Briarwood weren't mentioned are because D.A.T.A. Trek takes place in the
year 2007, which means the events of SPD have yet to happen, and in terms of the universe of this fic Briarwood
doesn't exist, although you could say that Briarwood exists in the form of Gandalf City from Magix. Likewise the
mentioning of Angela Fairweather from Lightspeed Rescue is another nod to continuity
Episode 9: System Crash part 2
- The Fairly OddParents - the concept of the Rangers being uploaded onto the Internet was actually inspired by the
"Information Stupor Highway" episode of The Fairly OddParents
- binary - while this isn't really an allusion per se, Eddie saying "let's hang one zero one zero" is a small joke to
binary, 1010 being binary for 10. Also I promise this'll be the last math joke I ever make, in this fic at least
Episode 10: A Sea of Blue
- Looney Tunes - "or if a wascally wabbit is on the loose" an obvious reference to Elmer Fudd's speack patterns
- The X-Files - "if this is going to be some sort of X-Files rant..." an obvious reference to the popular sci-fi series
- Denji Sentai Megaranger - the green gridlines in Dr. Venge's attack on the Rangers is meant to be an homage to
the 1997 Sentai series Megaranger, which Dr. Venge's character design is taken from
- Fantasia - "oh man this is like something out of Fantasia" a reference to the animated Disney movie, specifically
the Sorcerer's Apprentice segment where Mickey Mouse kept chopping at brooms that split and became new brooms
Episode 11: The Other Ninja
- Power Rangers Ninja Storm - "that idiot Lothor" a nod to continuity. Also Ninjrex's usage of the phrase "that idiot
Lothor" isn't just me quoting Mesogog from an episode of Dino Thunder, it's also how I feel towards Ninja Storm's
original non-Sentai villain
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - "how is that old owl that we once called 'sensei'" this is a reference to Maboroshi no
Gekkou the leader of Dark Shadow in Boukenger, Malevala and Ninjrex's Sentai equivalents are also Dark Shadow
members. At the time of this writing (September 17, 2006) I do not have any plans to include Gekkou-sama in any
major way, although I might use him in a flashback that Malevala or Ninjrex might have
- Sadako Sasaki - this is in reference to a real person who lived in the Hiroshima area when the A-bomb dropped
during World War II, who after being diagnosed with lukemia tried to fold 1000 origami cranes, but only made it to

Episode 12: The Lesser of Two Evils
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - Mark suggesting that new enemy could be the leader of an ancient civilization that was
buried beneath the sea is an in-joke to Gaja's origins in Boukenger
- Gosei Sentai Dairanger - Insidia's "battle gear" is Wraith Gara from Dairanger, for a pic of thise please refer to
SuperSentai.com (see links page)
Episode 13: The Enemy of my Enemy
- Batman - "the situation I'm in right now would be a cake walk for Batman" an obvious reference to the Dark
Knight, and let's face it escaping from Mindset would be a cake walk for Batman
- McDonalds - "they're more fashionable than the ones at McDonalds" just me poking a little fun at the fastfood
chain, and their uniforms
- Mario - "why is it that every time I do an Italian accent it always sounds like a bad impression of Mario?"
referencing Nintendo's biggest mascot and the voice he's had since Super Mario 64
- Tomorrow Never Dies - Paul scanning the fingerprint scan pad and in turn using the scan to gain access to the
armory was inspired by a similar scene in Tomorrow Never Dies where Bond did the exact same thing
Episode 14: A Shock to Your System
- Howard Stern - the name Howie Dern and the fact that he's a shock jock are both in reference to shock jock

- Power Rangers Dino Thunder - the mentioning of Kira Ford is a nod to continuity with 2004's Power Rangers
series Dino Thunder
- Power Rangers Magix - the whole concept of the band the Nightmare Sisters is a nod to continuity with mt
previous fic, so think of the band as being the Night/Mare Sisters, and yes the D.A.T.A. Trek episode entitled "The
Nightmare Sisters" is what you're probably thinking it's going to be
- Rob Schneider - "I've seen Rob Schneider movies that make more sense..." just a little jab at the actor, who has
starred in movies that oftentimes don't really have a plot that makes any real sense (i.e. The Animal or The Hot Chick)
Episode 15: First Date
- Charlie Sheen - "He's being little more than a Charlie Sheen wannabe", just a little jab at the actor and his former
party boy lifestyle
- Power Rangers in Space/Denji Sentai Megaranger (depending on your perspective) - the code to call for the
D.A.T.A. Tracker is the same code that was used for morphing from Power Rangers in Space or the henshin code
from Megaranger, it's the same code in both series
- The Olive Garden - "I can hook you up with a place that's a little more in your price range and that isn't the Olive
Garden", just taking a jab at the popular chain of Italian restaurants
- South Park - Eddie's somewhat insencere listening to Julia is almost what Jimmy said on a date in an episode of
South Park, also the waiter introducing himself the way he did was based on the waiter from that same episode of
South Park
- The Godfather - Julia comparing Paul to a Corleone is a reference to the book and movie
Episode 16: That Time of Year part 1
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - the Rangers putting Doc to bed they way they did mimics a simular scene in Boukenger
Task 15 where Masumi and Natsuki did the same with Makino in his workshop

Episode 18: The Yellow-Eyed Monster
- 867-5309 Jenny - Laura's phone number is a reference to the Tommy Tutone song "867-5039 Jenny"
- Power Rangers in Space/The Simpsons - "I'd probably have to send away to NASADA to calculate his tab" not only
is this some continuity with Power Rangers in Space it's also a variation on a line from the Simpsons episode "22
Short Films About Springfield", where Moe said that he'd have to send away to NASA to calculate Barney's tab
Episode 19: Here Comes the Bride
- Kill Bill vol. 1 - the title of this episode "Here Comes the Bride" was also used as a tagline for Kill Bill vol. 1
- The Simpsons - Kia's line "Can't sleep. Clown will eat me." is a direct quote from The Simpsons episode "Lisa's
First Word"
Episode 20: Great Power
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - the first JPop song that is playing on the TV in the coffee shop is "Mabayuki Senkou!
BoukenSilver" by Takatori Hideaki, which is BoukenSilver's theme song
- Kamen Rider Kabuto - the second JPop song is "NEXT LEVEL" by YU-KI the theme song to Kamen Rider Kabuto
- Red Bull - the energy drink that Scott is seen drinking is meant to be something of a parody fo the popular energy
drink Red Bull
Episode 21: Great Responsibility
- KyuKyu Sentai GoGo V - "you have a responsibility to protect this planet, this city" Paul's words here are a slight
reference to GoGo V's ending theme "Kono Hoshi wo Kono Machi wo", which translates to "this planet, this city"
- Spider-man - Eddie's pearl of wisdom about "with great power comes great responsibility" is takem from pretty
much any incarnation of the web slinger, also this is where the concept and titles of episodes 20 and 21 came from
Episode 22: Hammer Strike
- The Twilight Zone/The Simpsons - "like something out of that twilighty show about that zone" this is an obvious
reference to the classic sci-fi anthology series The Twilight Zone, plus this is also a direct quote from the Simpsons
episode "Trehouse of Horror VI"
Episode 23: Our Island in the Sun
- The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius - the inspiration for this episode came from the Jimmy Neutron
episode "Stranded"
- Gilligan's Island - "we could really use the Professor and the Skipper..." Rachel mentioning that Paul hasn't made
some sort of Gilligan's Island joke and Paul mentioning three characters are both obvious references to the classic
sitcom
- Survivor - Rachel mentioning that Paul hasn't made some sort of Survivor joke is an obvious reference to the
reality show, as well as Paul mentioning that being on the island wasn't like "being on some lame reality TV show"
- Spongebob Squarepants - Paul mentioning that he found a pineapple under the sea, and "screw the yellow sponge
who might've lived in it" are obvious reference's to the Nickelodeon character
- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Paul mentioning what else a towel is good for is a paraphrase from the
novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
- Spaceballs - Paul falling face first with Rachel in his arms, and him saying "who am I kidding" are the same way
that Lone Star did with Princess Vespa while on the desert planet
Episode 24: S.G.S.
- The Simpsons - Mark's mentioning of the part of the brain that Paul is thinking in, is a paraphrase from The
Simpsons episode "Lost Our Lisa"
- Dan Brown - Paul saying that what the S.G.S. is doing sounds like something out of a Dan Brown novel is a
reference to the author, and a certain bestseller of his
- Cedar Point - Paul saying that it'd only be Sandusky, OH if there was a roller coaster of great power, is a reference
to the amusement park Cedar Point, which boasts the world's largest collection of roller coasters
Episode 25: Someday My Prince Will Come
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - the title of this episode is a reference to the song "Someday My Prince Will
Come" from the classic animated Disney movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- Cinderella - a lot of this episode borrows from another classic Disney movie, Cinderella, the concept, the
characters of Anastasia and Prince Charming, and Doc's utterance of "bibbidi bobbidi boo" are all in refernece to this
movie, as well the monster's name is a slight spoof on Prince Charming
- The Little Mermaid - Malevala saying that she wants to be part of the Prince's world is a reference to the song
"Part of Your World" from the Disney movie
- Beauty and the Beast - Paul telling Mark to "be my guest" is a reference to the song "Be Our Guest" in the Disney
movie
- Aladdin - Prince Charming saying to Kia that she could be part of a whole new world is a reference to the song "A
Whole New World" from the Disney movie
Episode 26: Combination Crush
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - the title of this episode is taken from the name of the Boukenger's team attack with the
DualCrusher Drill Head
- Akira Kurosawa - name of the artifact in this ep if a reference to the Japanese director

- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - Paul asking Doc "what's so precious" about the Egg is a quick in-joke to the series that
this fic is based on

- Transformers - Scott asking wondering where Aurelius' Decepticon insignia is, is a reference to G1 Megatron
- Power Rangers Zeo - Paul saying that a "Gold Ranger" has been done is a reference to Zeo

- Mirai Sentai Timeranger/Power Rangers Time Force - the name of the D-Rex Negazord is an homage to

- Denji Sentai Megaranger - like Dr. Venge's attack in "A Sea of Blue" the green gridline beam from the enrgy
draining device is an homage to Megaranger

- Paris Hilton - Mark saying that he likes the Nightmare Sisters' music that same way that he likes Paris Hilton's
music is a stab at the socialite heiress (and yes I'm not really a fan of hers in any facet of her career)
Episode 33: The Essay
- Dawson's Creek/Scrubs - Kia mentioning that the thing between Paul and Rachel is better than an episode of
Dawson's Creek is a small reference to the teen melodrama. Also it's a variation on a line from an episode of Scrubs
where Nurse Laverne Roberts said that some of the drama between J.D. and Elliot that she was watching was better
than "her stories"
- Indiana Jones - Scott saying that all the have been doing since he became a Ranger was little more than Indiana
Jones wannabe stuff, is a reference to the film franchise
- Kamen Rider the First - the song the karaoke guys are performing is "Bright! our Future" by DA PUMP, which
was the theme to the movie Kamen Rider the First. Also note that part of the lyrics in the song actually read
"tatakai-tsuzukeru Take over Rider"
- MLA style - the pages of Rachel's essay that Paul found were set up in the Modern Language Association's (MLA)
essay format
Episode 34: The Nightmare Sisters part 1
- the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 launches - Eddie's line about waiting in line for the next-gen consoles and
coming back with nothing references the recent (as of December 17, 2006) launches of Nintendo and Sony's latest
consoles where numerous people who waited in line for a Wii or PS3 came back with nothing
- How I Met Your Mother - Mark's line "have you met Paul" is a variation on Barney's constant "have you met Ted"
game (as far as season 1 goes) in bars from the sitcom
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - the clothes that the D.A.T.A. Rangers wear are meant to be similar to the Boukenger's
uniforms
- Power Rangers Dino Thunder - Paul listening to a Kira Ford MP3 is just a little bit of continuity with the actual
show
Episode 35: The Nightmare Sisters part 2
- Harry Potter - Paul's use of the term "muggle" is an obvious reference to J.K. Rowling's book series
- Gremlins - Gizz Moe's name is a reference to a character from the horror/comedy movie
- Friends - Keith mentioning that he and Maria are on a "break" and Paul warning him to be careful with that term is
a reference to Ross and Rachel's break up
- the New York Rangers - Paul saying that Abomino should go to New York to fight a team of Rangers if he is going
to use a goalie stick as a weapon is a small nod to the NHL team
Episode 36: Aunt and Nephew
- Teletubbies - Paul calling Draggy Fluff a Teletubbie reject is a small jab at the children's show
Episode 37: Malevalance
- Kung Fu Fighting - Paul's remark about ending the kung fu fighting, and Mark's reply about the kicks being fast as
lightning are a reference to the Carl Douglas song
- Denji Sentai Megaranger - Dr. Venge's cane weapon is the same cane that Dr. Hinelar used in Megaranger
Episode 38: My Self-Sabotage
- Scrubs - several references to the show are made, Paul whistling at the trainees and calling Eddie by a girl's name is
similar to what we usually see Dr. Cox doing as well as Cox's talent for turning a two syllable word into a six
syllable word, and Paul's usage of "frick" is in the same vein that Elliot uses the word. Mark calling Kia "baby" is the
same way that Turk often refers to Carla, Rachel's narration is in the same vein that JD always narrates episodes of
Scrubs, Rachel comparing Scott to the "creepy janitor" is a reference to the janitor on the show, Frank more or less
is Todd, Paul and Rachel both partially quote the theme song by Lazlo Bane, and the title of this episode is also done
in the same way as most Scrubs titles (except for the His/Her Story episodes)
- The Sopranos - the way Frank is seen dressed is in reference to the HBO series, hence Paul's comment
- Superman - while Paul saying that he is no Superman is a reference to the Scrubs theme song, his mentioning of
Clark Kent is a reference to the Man of Steel
- South Park - Paul's blurb about everything that happened between him and Rachel is a variation of a few lines that
Butters said in the episode "Raisins"
- The Simpsons/Disney - Paul's mentioning that things can't always be smiles and sunshine is the same way that the
Germans described themselves at the end of the episode "Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk", furthermore Paul using
that phrase to describe Disney movies, is yet another potshot from me at the studio
Episode 39: Virtually Real part 1
- VR Troopers - the concept of virtual reality, Scott's line about not being a "Trooper", and Ziktor's name all in
reference to Saban's second attempt at adapting tokusatsu
- Digimon - Paul's mentioning of the "digital world" is a reference to the anime
Episode 40: Virtually Real part 2
- VR Troopers - Ziktor's line "Countdown control. Four. Three. Two. One" is a reference to the VR Troopers theme
song

- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - the title of this episode are the same words that are written on the back of
the Guide in any incarnation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (radio play, novel, movie, TV miniseries, etc.),
furthermore the number of this episode is also a reference in that 42 was the answer the supercomputer Deep
Thought gave when asked what the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything was. Also
Insidia saying that humans are the third smartest beings on Earth as well as Paul saying "None at all" are also in
reference to the Guide
- Goldfinger/The Simpsons - Paul and Insidia's back and forth "do you expect me to talk", "no I expect you to die" is
a variation on the ever quoted lines from Connery's third outing as 007. Also Insidia mentioning the "cheap funeral" is
a quote from the Simpsons episode "You Only Move Twice"
- On Her Majesty's Secret Service - the Latin phrase Paul speaks "orbis non-sufficit" (the world is not enough) is the
Bond family motto as revealed in Lazenby's only outing as 007, also Insidia saying that it is "not a bad motto" is a
quote from this movie
- The Wolrd is Not Enough - Insidia initially calling the phrase "the world is not enough" a pathetic sentiment is a
quote from Brosnan's third outing as 007
- Autstin Powers: International Man of Mystery - the mentioning of sharks with laser beams on their heads, and ill
tempered mutated sea bass are partial quotes from the first Austin Powers movie
- Die Another Day - Conroy saying that Paul and Scott get to "live to die another day" is a partial quote from
Brosnan's final outing as 007. Paul's line about "it's not my time to go" is a quote from the title theme by Madonna

the same numbers that would be used to call for MagiPunch on the MagiPhone
- Star Wars - Paul saying "let's blow thing thing and go home", is the same line Han said just as Luke was about to
blow up the Death Star
Episode 45: Game Over part 2
- Futurama - Scott calling Chaotic Insidia the space pope is in reference to Futurama's galactic religious leader
- Transformers: the Movie - Chaotic Insidia saying "such heroic nonsense" is the same line Megatron said just as he
was about to finish off Ironhide
- Licence to Kill - Jones describing the S.G.S. as not not being some country club, is the same way that M
described Her Majesty's secret service, when Bond gave M his resignation
- Kill Bill vol. 2 - Paul line about how Rachel is his favorite person etc. is a variation on the line that Bill said after
Beatrix (the Bride) used the five point palm-exploding heart technique on him
- GoGo Sentai Boukenger - the song the karaoke man was singing is "Start up! ~Kizuna~" by NoB, which is
featured on the Boukenger song collection
- Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles - the scene between Linda and her news director was inspired in part by a smilar
scene at the end of the movie with April
